D-Link FAQ

What is the default IP address of D-Link routers?

Most D-Link routers use 192.168.0.1 as the default address. Some older models or DSL modem-routers may use 192.168.1.1. If in doubt, check the label on the device.

Is the D-Link default password really empty?

Yes, many D-Link models have username 'admin' and empty password by default. Some newer models use 'admin/admin'. For security, always change this password after first access.

How do I reset my D-Link router to factory settings?

With the router on, use a pin or paperclip to press the RESET button on the back for 10 seconds. All lights will blink and the router will restart with default settings.

I can't access the D-Link panel, what do I do?

Check that your computer has an IP in the same network (e.g. 192.168.0.x). Try temporarily disabling the firewall or antivirus. Use a direct Ethernet cable. If all else fails, reset the router.

How do I update the D-Link firmware?

Go to 'Maintenance' or 'Tools' > 'Firmware Upgrade'. Download the latest firmware from the official D-Link website for your model. Do not turn off the router during the update (can take 5-10 minutes).
